Jakarta (ANTARA) - President of Pakistan Arif Alvi congratulates President Joko Widodo for his reelection and second term in office.

President Joko Widodo and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin were inaugurated in the Indonesian parliament building in Jakarta on Sunday afternoon.

"Being elected for the second time in a democratic country is an indication of his real service to the people, and that the people of Indonesia recognized that," said President Alvi in a video recording sent by the Pakistan Embassy in Jakarta on Sunday.

He further said that he is confident that the relationship between Indonesia and Pakistan will continue to be strengthened based on the shared values that include belief and community vision and culture.

Pakistan and Indonesia have also been striving together to achieve universal peace, based on the principals of emancipation and non-intervention.

"I believe it will be a pleasure to continue cooperation with President Joko Widodo and I thank him, as well as the Indonesian people, for the partnership with Pakistan all the years," said President Alvi.

Previously, Ambassador of Pakistan to Indonesia Abdul Salik Khan said in an interview with ANTARA that a number of sectors will be strengthened in the bilateral relationship between the two countries.

Aside from the bilateral cooperation in the human resources sector, which has also become the focus of the Jokowi and Ma'ruf Amin administration in the next five years, Pakistan also seeks to strengthen economic and tourism partnerships.
