I will call on all ASEAN members to jointly develop infrastructures related to the Indo-Pacific concept
Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo is set to bring infrastructure development up for discussion at the 35th ASEAN Summit to be held in Bangkok from November 2 to 4, 2019. "I will call on all ASEAN members to jointly develop infrastructures related to the Indo-Pacific concept," he said in a weekly discussion with journalists at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta Friday.

The plenary meeting of ASEAN Summit that will bring together ASEAN heads of state/government will kick off Saturday, November 2.

On Sunday, Jokowi will attend the opening ceremony of the 35th ASEAN Summit and several summits between ASEAN member states and their partners, including ASEAN-China, ASEAN-India, and ASEAN-UN Summits

"So it will have a good economic impact on ASEAN member states with particularly easy connections among countries, at low logistical costs. We hope that ASEAN economic growth will be getting better because the exchange of goods among ASEAN member states will be getting easier," he said.

The meetings are also expected to increase connectivity among ASEAN member states.

"And we also hope that with good connectivity, ASEAN products will become more competitive," he said.

The president said the ASEAN Summit was important now that the global condition is difficult to predict.
