Jakarta (ANTARA) - State Logistics Agency (Bulog) revealed its plan to establish King Market, a modern food store by capitalizing on its wide network across the country.

"We have networks spread across the country, including the warehouses. It means we have the capability. Now, we will develop the technology," Bulog's President Director, Budi Waseso, stated on the sidelines of the BUMN Trading & Marketing Award 2019 here on Tuesday.

The state-owned firm had received the award for innovation and marketing.

Waseso remarked that Bulog is forging ahead towards transformation in the digital era through developing an online sales platform.

Bulog will launch its online store Pangandotcom on the Shopee e-commerce platform in mid-November as its initial move before establishing King Market. The modern food market will cater to online and offline trading nationwide, he expounded.

"We will cooperate with the e-commerce platform through the establishment of Pangandotcom. This would be the embryo of King Market. Food producers, for instance, can directly sell their products to King Market. We will also support them with Pangandotcom," he noted.

King Market is expected to become fully operational in 2020.

The agency's Director for Business and Industry Development, Imam Subowo, remarked that King Market will become a major market where Bulog can sell its products as well as those from other producers.

"This is a modern store specifically for food products. That is why we name it King Market. What we want is that the state control the food affairs," he stated.
