The collaboration of the three institutions began with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the cooperation and initial rice harvest which was attended by Bulog, BNI, and the Department of Agriculture of UNS in Solo, Central Java on Friday.
Present on the occasion were Bulog President Director, Budi Waseso; UNS Chancellor, Jamal Wiwoho; BNI MSME Business and Network Director, Catur Budi Harto; BNI Small Business 2 Division General Manager, Bambang Setyatmojo; and more than 250 farmers.
On the occasion, BNI distributed the People's Business Loan (KUR) to farmers. The loan adds to BNI's small business loan distribution portfolio in 2019, where as of May 31, 2019, BNI's KUR channeled Rp8.23 trillion and touched 95,728 recipients throughout Indonesia.
Budi Harto stated that BNI's role in this movement was intended to ensure that farmers get access to cheap, easy, and sufficient funding. This process will be more effective with the support of the State Logistics Agency and the UNS.
"This cooperation is expected to be one of the pillars of government programs in an effort to increase farmer productivity, income distribution and poverty alleviation. BNI will continue to provide channel financing to all farmers to create prosperous and sovereign Indonesian farmers," he said.
At the event, BNI provided assistance under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program in the form of two hand tractors to farmers in the area. This tool will make it easier for farmers while processing land on their farms.
