The former industry minister expounded that Secretary Ross' visit not only aims to bolster bilateral relations between both nations that span seven decades but also to discuss investments from US companies in Indonesia.
Both parties also held talks on the generalized system of preferences (GSP) in trade that is being revisited. The policy will allow a country to impose cuts on import tariff for export products of receiving countries.
"The GSP review is expected to be finalized in the near future. Indonesia would soon send a team from the Ministry of Trade," he stated.
In the meantime, Secretary Ross lauded the seven-decade-long cooperation, both with the Government of Indonesia and Indonesian businesses.
"We held a very constructive discussion, including on sensitive issues. I think we have agreed on a good direction for both parties," Ross noted.
