Jayapura, Papua (ANTARA) - The Jayapura Immigration Office has deported six citizens of Papua New Guinea (PNG) and blacklisted them from entering the Indonesian territory.

The six PNG nationals were deported to their country on Nov 8 through the Skouw cross-border checkpoint, Head of the Jayapura Immigration Office Gatut Setiawan stated on Thursday.

The PNG citizens are identified as Graham Kenai Amsor (51), Patricia B. Tungla (47), Ryan Amanus Tungla (26), Titus Pondik (39), Hendrik Anrisa (48), and Rachael Tungla (50).

Before deportation, the PNG citizens were held in custody for attempting to smuggle two tons of betel nut aboard motorboats, he noted.

"They were arrested by the patrolling Indonesian naval personnel on Monday (Oct 28) while entering the Jayapura waters aboard three motorboats. They were later handed over to the immigration authorities for further process," he revealed.

Offering an explanation on six PNG citizens using fake cross border passes, he said the case had been reported to the PNG consulate in Jayapura.

"We have reported on the allegation of fake cross border pass to the PNG consulate in Jayapura," he remarked. Related news: Navy arrests four PNG citizens for possession of illegal cacao
