The five fishermen were arrested separately while fishing using four motorboats in the waters of PNG, Martamba Tobing, acting consular of the Indonesian Consulate in Vanimo, the capital of Sandaun Province in PNG, stated on Friday.
Four of the five fishermen were taken into arrest on Oct 21, while the other one was apprehended on the following day, he remarked.
The five fishermen are identified as Faisal, La Toto, Jufri, Arjun, and Hamzah.
He confirmed that the wife of one of the fishermen had visited her husband held in custody in Vanimo.
"It is true that the family of one of the fishermen visited Vanimo, and the Indonesian Consulate in Vanimo helped her to meet her husband, who is standing trial," he added.
