Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Vice-President Ma'ruf Amin received a visit from President of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Russell M. Nelson in the Vice President's office, at Medan Merdeka Utara Road, Jakarta, Thursday.

Nelson arrived at the office of the Vice President at around 3:00 p.m. local time. He was received by the Vice President (VP) at around 4:15 p.m. The closed meeting, along with the delegation, lasted for about half an hour.

After the meeting, both, the Vice President and Nelson rushed off to attend to other activities, without giving any information to the media.

Vice President Ma'ruf is scheduled to attend the commemoration of the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad, or Maulid Nabi Muhammad at the Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta, Thursday evening.

Before meeting the Vice President, Nelson had to wait in the audience room of the VP’s office. While waiting, Nelson seemed interested in the national emblem of Indonesia, Garuda Pancasila, located there.

"What is the meaning of the writing," Nelson asked, pointing to the words "Bhinneka Tunggal Ika" under the Garuda Pancasila.

Alwi Shihab who accompanied Nelson explained that the meaning was ‘unity in diversity’. Nelson nodded when listening to the explanation.

The meaning of the various symbols that exist in the Garuda Pancasila was explained to him. This included the number of Garuda furs which marks August 17, 1945.

Hearing about August, Nelson smiled and said that he was married in that month.

"August is my wedding month," Nelson said.
