"Such requirements should be immediately revoked, as they violate the Constitution and do not align with Indonesia's obligations under the international human rights laws," Hamid noted in a statement received here, Saturday.
Hamid pointed to such discriminative policies being a major letdown. Amnesty International uncovered that it had failed to provide equal rights to all citizens of the country and acknowledge the competence of applicants.
He believed that the recruitment process should seek the best candidates to become civil apparatuses instead of applying requirements that contain baseless hatred targeting certain groups.
Amnesty International came across requirements for civil apparatuses in the Attorney General's Office that emphasized the applicants cannot be of non-heterosexual orientation.
They also uncovered that the Office necessitated applicants to possess ideal body postures, with body mass index of between 18 and 25 and not have any physical or mental disabilities.
The Ministry of Trade had earlier applied similar requirements on sexual orientations, but they had been revoked.
"The Ministry of Defense also prohibited pregnant women from applying," he pointed out.
Hamid also highlighted the Indonesian Ombudsman's criticism over discriminatory requirements and that they have called for their revocation.
