If agricultural human resources are professional, self-reliant and have the spirit of entrepreneurship, our ideals of being a world food barn will not merely be dream but will come true.
Yogyakarta (ANTARA) - The Agriculture Ministry is encouraging vocational education development to produce professional and reliable human resources in the agricultural sector since they are the key to achieving Indonesia's ideals of becoming a world food barn.

"If agricultural human resources are professional and self-reliant and have the spirit of entrepreneurship, our ideals of being a world food barn will not merely be a dream but will become a reality," Chief of the Agricultural Human Resources Counseling and Development (BPPSDMP) of the Agriculture Ministry Dedi Nursyamsi stated after opening a national seminar on vocational education 2019 in Yogyakarta on Wednesday.

It is the agricultural human resources that will be able to control the development of infrastructure, the utilization and creation of technological innovations, and their implementation on the field, he stated.

By continuing to prepare quality agricultural human resources, vocational education plays a significant role in increasing the productivity of the agricultural sector in Indonesia, he remarked.

This is in line with President Joko Widodo's instruction that the development of human resources must receive priority over other sectors, he noted.

In the face of the fourth industrial revolution, known as Industry 4.0, agricultural human resources must not merely be professionals but also possess innovative skills and capitalize on various forms of technology to boost productivity of the agricultural sector, he stated.

"Regardless of whether we are ready, we must enter the era of Industry 4.0 to improve efficiency and accelerate our activities," he remarked.
