Defending Palestine is in line with the 1945 Indonesian Constitution's Preamble.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Deputy Chairman Hidayat Nur Wahid has urged Indonesia to bolster efforts to defend Palestinians in accordance with the Indonesian Constitution's mandate to uphold the values of humanity, religion, and international laws.

"Defending Palestine is in line with the 1945 Indonesian Constitution's Preamble in its first paragraph, mandating eradication of colonialism all over the world, as it is against humanity and justice," Wahid noted in a press statement here on Friday.

International Solidarity Day for Palestine, observed on Nov 29, is an effort by the global community to uphold the international commitment to fighting for the freedom of Palestine.

It demonstrates that the United Nations (UN) is apparently committed to defending the rights of Palestinians to establish a sovereign nation and to end Israeli colonialism.

The senior politician of Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) has urged to boycott Israeli products.

"Materializing the policy on boycotting Zionist Israeli products was voiced by President Joko Widodo during the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in 2016," he pointed out.

He suggested that Indonesia emulate the practices of boycott and divestment movement followed in Europe and the United States to pressure Zionist Israeli.

Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) is a Palestinian-led movement for freedom, justice, and equality. BDS upholds the simple principle that Palestinians are entitled to the same rights as the rest of humanity.

Israel is occupying and colonizing Palestinian land, discriminating against Palestinian citizens of Israel, and denying Palestinian refugees the right to return to their homes. Drawing inspiration from the South African anti-apartheid movement, the BDS has pressed for action to pressure Israel into adhering to the international law.

BDS is currently a vibrant global movement constituting unions, academic associations, churches, and grassroots movements worldwide. Some 13 years since its launch, BDS is significantly impacting and effectively challenging international support for Israeli apartheid and settler-colonialism.
