The TNI will work in cooperation with the police and other security-related agencies to conduct the so-called "Operasi Lilin" (Operation Candle) as part of the efforts to secure those celebrations.
"In safeguarding this year's Christmas and New Year celebrations, we refer to the experience back in 2018," TNI Commander Air Chief Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto noted in his statement, Friday.
Drawing reference to last year's experience, Tjahjanto stated that every agency had learnt critical pointers to watch out for based on its post.
Tjahjanto expects every agency to share information as a precautionary measure against possible threat and support the operation to be conducted successfully.
He stated that the Christmas and New Year celebrations certainly involve large number of people and vehicular movements.
"Public services and security guarantees are required in every area," Tjahjanto noted.
Hence, he called on all agencies to remain cognizant and make necessary preparations in line with their respective fields of duty.
Moreover, joint security measures hold significance not only to secure the community but also for the officers stationed on the field.
