"The flash flood was caused by rains with high intensity. Earlier, a flash flood had engulfed the district on November 20, 2019," Head of the BNPB Data and Information Center and Public Relations Service Agus Wibowo noted in a press statement released Friday.
The flash flood hit Koto Parik Gadang Diateh Subdistrict, Sungai Pagu Subdistrict, and Pauh Duo Subdistrict, he said.
The flash flood also led to the collapse of a bridge.

"Residents have been evacuated to higher ground on a self-reliant basis. Their number is still in the process of being counted," he said.
The Quick Reaction Team of the Solok Selatan District Disaster Mitigation Office, along with the Indonesian military and police personnel and emergency response unit Tagana members were still assisting the victims, he said.
Earlier in the day a mud flood, induced by torrential rains, swept through Bolapapu Village, Sigli District, Central Sulawesi Province, on Thursday, killing two persons and compelling 707 others to flee their homes, BNPB said.
"The residents are seeking refuge in safe places in Bolapapu Village, including two school buildings, 10 temporary houses, 15 residents' homes, and one official house of the sub-district head," Head of the BNPB Data and Information Center and Public Relations Service Agus Wibowo noted in a press statement released Friday.
