A transformation will be brought about in our working culture and our mindset. This is not only about shifting the location (of the capital city).Balikpapan, E Kalimantan (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) held a meeting with customary figures in East Kalimantan to discuss a plan on relocating the capital city to the province.
"A transformation will be brought about in our working culture and our mindset. This is not only about shifting the location (of the capital city)," Jokowi remarked here on Tuesday.
The meeting with local figures was part of the president's agenda during his two-day working visit to the province.
The president met with 30 customary leaders in the company of State Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir, National Development Planning Minister Suharso Monoarfa, Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian, Cabinet Secretary Pramon Anung, and East Kalimantan Governor Isran Noor.
"I have instructed ministers to install anything that we need," the president stated.
Jokowi is scheduled to visit the location of the new capital city within the concession area of PT International Timber Corporation in Indonesia (ITCI), Sepaku Sub-district, North Penajam Paser District.
The new capital city is located in North Penajam Paser District and partly in Kutai Kertanegara District.
At the new location, the government has prepared 180 thousand hectares of land to build various supporting facilities, including a green area. An area spanning from four to six thousand hectares will be needed to develop government institutions' building.
The capital city will be built on a land measuring 56 thousand hectares, of which some 5,600 hectares have been allocated for government buildings. The area will be led by a city manager.
The new capital city, designed as a smart city, comprises the three clusters of government, education, and technology. Tourism cluster can likely be added.
Relocation of the capital city will require a funding of Rp466 trillion that will be sourced from the state budget, private sector, and public-private partnership (PPP) scheme. Related news: President Jokowi embarks on work visit to East Kalimantan
