Cikarang, W Java (ANTARA) - The Agro Parahyangan passenger train hit a van that was crossing a railway at Bosih Road in Wanasari Village, Cibitung Subdistrict, Bekasi District, West Java Province, on Saturday evening, killing seven people inside the car.

"All of them die at the site of the accident," Bekasi Metropolitan Police Spokesman Adjunct Commissioner Sunardi told journalists here on Sunday.

According to witnesses, the ill-fated van's driver, Bahrudin, forced to cross the railway though he had been warned by local residents of an immediate coming of the Agro Parahyangan train heading to Jakarta, he said.

The traffic accident killed the 51-year-old driver and six other people inside the van -- Watinah (50), Santi (30), Didit (12), Yanto, Syarufudin (49), and Yanda (32).

They are all residents of Utan Kayu Selatan, Matraman Subdistrict, East Jakarta. "The corpses are stored in the Bekasi District Public Hospital's morgue," he said.

Sunardi said the accident took place after the driver of the blue Sigra van with license plate B 1778 FZI ignored the local people's warning and signal of the Bosih railroad crossing gate.

The local police probe the accident, he added.

In June this year, seven people were also killed after their car was rammed by a train at a railroad crossing in Jaya Mulya Village, Indramayu district, West Java province.

Chief of the Indramayu Police Resort Adjunct Senior Commissioner Yoris M.Y Marzuki confirmed the accident which claimed the lives of seven people.

Meanwhile, in anticipating the rise of vehicles heading to cities in West and Central Java ahead of the Christmas celebrations, state-owned toll road operator PT Jasa Marga applied a one way policy at the Trans-Java Toll Road on Saturday.

The one way police was made effective from Cikampek's main toll gate (KM 70) to the Kalikangkung toll gate at KM 414 of the Batang-Semarang Toll Road between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. local time.
