"Police officers, who get promoted, must plant a tree," South Jakarta Police Chief, Police Chief Commissioner Bastoni Purnama, noted in Jakarta, Saturday, citing the program is part of the "National Police Care for Reforestation" (Polri Peduli Penghijauan), a nationwide campaign launched by the National Police this week.
No less than 1,500 tree seedlings have been planted since Friday (Jan 10) until the end of next weekend (Jan 19) at the Ragunan Zoological Park in Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, Purnama pointed out.
Some seedlings were those of productive trees, including the Rambutan tree (Nephelium lappaceum); the Longan tree (Dimocarpus longan); Bell Fruit tree (Syzygium aqueum); Mango tree (M. indica); Mahogany (Swietenia mahagoni); the Java Plum (Syzygium cumini); the Java Olive tree or Kepuh (Sterculia foetida); Gum tree or Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus sp); Seagrape (Coccoloba uvifera); Peacock Flower (Caesalpinia pulcherrima); Monkey Pod tree (Samanea saman); Tamarind (Tamarindus indica); and the Tropical Almond tree (Terminalia catappa).
