Pangkalpiinang, Bangka Belitun (ANTARA) - The Bangka Belitung (Babel) provincial administration is planning several international events, including festivals and a cycling race, to attract foreign tourists to visit the islands located in the southeast of Sumatra Island.

The planned events comprise the Bangka Belitung Moon Festival, the Biggest Night Market in Bangka Belitung featuring special arts and cultural performances, Beach Game, and Tour de Karimata, an international cycling race and sports tourism event, Yanuar, an official of the Bangka Belitung government, stated here on Tuesday.

Yanuar noted that the tourism events will be held annually and included in the Bangka Belitung (Babel) tourism calendar of events in 2021.

Rivai, head of the Babel tourism office, confirmed that his office will promote the tourism events in the media and guarantee the event's quality.

Babel Province, one of the newest in Indonesia, comprises several islands, with Bangka and Belitung islands as the major ones, and over 250 islets.

Tanjung Tinggi Beach, one of the most popular beaches on Belitung Island, is known for its white sand, with huge granite rocks piled across.
