The aerial observation conducted by Helly BO 105 will help chase illegal perpetrators who run away to areas which Indonesian warships find difficult to reach,Batam, Riau Islands (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) has stationed a Helly BO 105 helicopter to support marine security operations in the Malacca Strait and Singapore Strait. The deployment of the helicopter will help ensure effective and efficient operations, Commander of Marine Security Forces Vice Admiral Yayan Sofiyan said in a press statement released on Tuesday.
Moreover, the operations in Malacca Strait and Singapore Strait are encountered with geographical constellation including islands, shallowness and mangrove forests that illegal perpetrators often use to conduct maneuvers beyond the reach of Indonesian warships, he said.
"The aerial observation conducted by Helly BO 105 will help chase illegal perpetrators who run away to areas which Indonesian warships find difficult to reach," he said.
The Marine Security Forces I held a coordination meeting to work out a standard operating procedure (SOP) to operate the Helly BO 105 under the operational control of the Marine Security Forces I.
The SOP deals with the tasks of the Helly BO 105 to serve as a target of reporting the unit surveillance system in cooperation with Indonesian warships as well as to direct the target towards an area where Indonesian warships can take action.
The lineup and tasks of the personnel on board were also discussed to ensure that the mechanism of the helicopter's internal working during the operations and tactical cooperation with the Indonesian warships and controller in the operation control room of the Marine Security Forces I was conducted smoothly.
