We encourage all MSMEs in the country to take advantage of the digital market since using e-commerce is more effective to penetrate the global market
Denpasar (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communication and Informatics encouraged micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to make good use of digital technology to market their products so that later they can penetrate the global market.

"We encourage all MSMEs in the country to take advantage of the digital market since using e-commerce is more effective to penetrate the global market," the Ministry's Director of Information and Communication on Economics and Maritime, Septriana Tangkary, stated here Tuesday.

More than 18 percent of the current total MSMEs in the country has already entered the digital economy while some others still use social media such as WhatsApp and Facebook to market their products, Tangkary noted.

“The digital market provides a quite big chance for MSMEs to play at the global level. It is very easy nowadays for MSMEs to create digital stores, and the government currently has a program for that,” she said.

Through the government program, which is called "Eight Million MSMEs", Indonesian local products will be able to enter the international market, she further said.

Meanwhile, Denpasar Mayor Ida Bagus Rai Dharmawijaya Mantra argued that MSMEs in Bali's city of Denpasar have more opportunities to market their products through online platforms.

Therefore, she urged all MSMEs in the city to upgrade their way of doing business to follow the digital age.

"Now the current challenge for MSMEs in Denpasar is to learn how to get into the online business so that they can get into the digital market," Mantra said. (INE)
