Regarding this achievement, we will continue to encourage enhancing the quality of palm oil research in Indonesia through interdisciplinary and trans-disciplinary approaches, thus it will facilitate beneficiaries in a sustainable way.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB) set records by coming topmost for the largest number of academic articles published internationally based on palm oil researches, according to analysis undertaken by the Singapore Elsevier Research Intelligent in 2020.

"The integration of the upstream and downstream segments of palm oil based on research holds significance for ensuring sustainability of the palm oil industry in Indonesia that is considered to contribute significantly to the country's income," Professor Arif Satria, the rector of IPB, noted in a statement received here on Thursday.

IPB’s some 69 published academic articles garnered it the top ranking, followed by the Germany University of Goettingen (UGOE), with 42 articles; Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), 35 articles; Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), 26 articles; and Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), 24 articles.

The institute is currently forging cooperation with the University of Goettingen and CIFOR through various joint-research projects, such as OPAL, GCRF-Trade Hub, and CRC990-EFForTS.

Palm oil-related researches conducted by the IPB were supported by the Ministry of Research and Technology, as it also considered the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), as well as the Agricultural Fund Management Agency (BPDP) of Palm Oil, private company, and other involved sectors.

The IPB is concentrating its research on the downstream segment of palm oil, with innovation of surfactant for import substitute to support the enhanced oil recovery (EOR) technology.

"In connection with this achievement, we will continue to encourage enhancing the quality of palm oil research in Indonesia through interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches, to facilitate beneficiaries in a sustainable manner," Satria remarked.
