I asked them to check whoever had close contact with the foreign national,Jakarta (ANTARA) - West Jakarta Mayor Rustam Effendi has ordered his staff to track all Jakarta-area locations visited by a Japanese citizen who later tested positive for the coronavirus, or Covid-19.
The order is addressed to employees of the subdistrict head's office, the health office and the tourism office, requesting that staff check suspected places where the Japanese national had visited while in Indonesia.
"I asked them to check whoever had close contact with the foreign national," he said here on Tuesday.
Specifically, Mayor Effendi asked the head of the Taman Sari sub-district to locate all sites where the Japanese national allegedly transmitted the virus to two Indonesians, based upon data from the Health Ministry.
"The head of Taman Sari sub-district may allow the quick reaction team to obtain information about which places the Japanese national had visited," he said.
Earlier, the Indonesian government announced the country's first two confirmed cases of Covid-19.
Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto reported on Monday that two Indonesians, who had tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) infection, are residents of Depok City, West Java.
The patients -- a 64-year-old mother and her 31-year-old daughter -- had contracted coronavirus from the Japanese national who had visited Indonesia and was in close contact with them.
After leaving Indonesia, the Japanese citizen was confirmed positive for the COVID-19 infection while in Malaysia.
