"We have a meeting to discuss 39 tourism spots that we have agreed upon with the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry. We then cut short the list to only eight to 10 spots. We calculate the funding to complete the project until June. The development has covered various aspects, including homestay, road, culture, agriculture, and its human resources," Pandjaitan noted in a statement here on Thursday.
The minister held a meeting with Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Wishnutama and heads of districts around Toba Lake on Wednesday (March 4).
The minister stated that the government will strive to open as broad as transportation access to the lake as possible and improve the existing infrastructure.
"In Sibisa, some investors are ready to come. They will work on three road lines, electricity, and waste processing installation (IPAL). The construction is expected to start in May or June. The project was suspended for eight months over land conflict, but this had been settled," he revealed.
The five areas included in the KSPN are Toba Lake in North Sumatra, Borobudur in Central Java, Mandalika in West Nusa Tenggara, Bunaken in North Sulawesi, and Bangka Belitung in Bangka Belitung Islands.
The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing has focused on the development of five regions prioritized in the KSPN to be completed in 2020.
