Batam, Riau Islands (ANTARA) - Chief of the Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto and National Police Chief General Idham Azis led a civic mission to support health of local people on Galang Island, near the location of a special infectious disease hospital which will be built there.

The health services conducted at the Sijantung Port terminal, were attended by hundreds of local people on Sunday.

"We are holding social services, health services for the local community. The closest is Sijantung," Tjahjanto said.

They provided medical checkups for women, children and family planning services, and dental treatment, among other things.

The military and police chiefs also distributed logistic assistance for the local residents.

They also met with officers guarding the former Vietnam Refugee Camp, around the location of the planned establishment of a special infectious disease hospital, among other things to deal with COVID-19 or novel coronavirus disease.
