Jakarta (ANTARA) - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has lifted the restrictions placed on public transportation services, including for TransJakarta buses and MRT Jakarta, to check the spread of COVID-19.

"Public transportation services will return to their original schedules and the strength of the fleet will also return to normal," he said at the City Hall, Monday evening. However, he added, limitations on the number of passengers allowed to board buses and trains (for MRT and LRT), as well as the number of passengers queuing at stops and stations, will remain in place.

"The consequence will be crowding outside stops and stations, but that could lessen the chances of virus spread indoors. For that reason, limiting the number passengers inside each bus and train is important," he explained.

Baswedan had previously restricted transportation schedules and routes for TransJakarta, MRT, and LRT. The number of buses operating under the TransJakarta services was also reduced.
