South Kuta in Bali hit by 6.6-magnitude quake

Jakarta (ANTARA) - An earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale rattled South Kuta in Bali Province on early Thursday, though no material damage and casualties were reported.

The earthquake that hit at 00.45 a.m. local time on Thursday was centered 273 kilometers southwest of South Kuta, at a depth of 10 kilometers, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) stated on its official website.

The BMKG noted that the tremor did not have the potential to trigger a tsunami though warned of likely aftershocks. "Beware of aftershocks that may occur," the BMKG stated.
