Cianjur, West Java (ANTARA) - Two children have died of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF), while dozens of other people remain hospitalized across Cianjur, West Java, according to the Cianjur Health Service.

"As per a report received today, two DHF patients — a 1.5-month-old infant and a 9-year-old child — have died," head of the Cianjur Health Office's Prevention and Control Division, Yusman Faisal, told reporters here on Thursday.

A total of 101 persons have been treated in Cianjur hospitals over the last two months for suspected dengue fever.

The Cianjur Health Office has intensified a public awareness campaign on healthy lifestyle choices for fighting dengue fever.

This year, the Cianjur Regional Hospital handled 59 dengue patients, 45 of whom recovered, while one patient, aged 1.5 months, died a few days ago due to DHF, according to Diana Wulandara, head of the public relations department at the hospital.

"The baby, who underwent treatment in the HCU (high care unit), arrived in a pretty bad condition. Within a few hours of receiving treatment, the baby died," she added.

As of today, 13 DHF patients are receiving intensive care in Cianjur. Their condition has been reported to be stable.
