The step has been taken, as several online motorcycle taxis continue to operate despite the government having issued a physical distancing policy over the COVID-19 pandemic.
The drone also doubles up as a medium to disseminate information to the public through a sound system on ways to safeguard from being exposed to COVID-19, Chief of the Traffic Corps of the Indonesian Police Inspector General Istiono stated on Monday.
The use of drones is part of the Safety and COVID-19 Spread Prevention Operation.

The drone will also be deployed in several other areas in the capital to detect the body temperature of people in crowds, he revealed.
"This device has helped us immensely. We will continue to deploy it during the extraordinary occurrence or KLB. If the body temperature of any of them crosses 38 degrees Celsius, we will recommend swift action to prevent the spread of COVID-19," he explained.
