Palembang. S Sumatra (ANTARA) - Rapid coronavirus tests were conducted on hundreds of Islamic boarding school students (santri) at the Jakabaring COVID-19 Healthy House in Palembang, South Sumatra Province, after arrival from other regions in Indonesia in the past week.

"The medical tests should be conducted on some 200 santris to ensure that they are not exposed to the coronavirus, so they will be safe in their interactions with other family members and community members," Chief of the Jakabaring COVID-19 Healthy House Mawardi Yahya noted here on Monday.

Yahya confirmed that none of the santris undergoing the rapid tests had tested positive for COVID-19.

To break the chain of the coronavirus outbreak, the Jakabaring COVID-19 Healthy House in the South Sumatra provincial capital of Palembang has left no stone unturned in taking precautionary measures against the spread of the virus by conducting rapid coronavirus tests on residents, who had recently arrived from other regions affected by COVID-19, he remarked.

Yahya expressed belief that in this manner, the spread of COVID-19 can soon be halted, and the residents can conduct their activities as usual, he added.
