Jakarta (ANTARA) - The number of coronavirus patients undergoing treatment at the Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta has reached 561 as of 8 a.m. local time on Thursday, a spokesperson said.

Of the total patients, there are 409 COVID-19 positive patients, 125 patients under surveillance (PDP), and 27 people under surveillance (ODP), chief of the Combined Defense Region Command I, Vice Admiral Yudo Margono, said in a written statement released on Thursday.



The 561 patients comprise 323 men and 238 women, he informed.



"The data shows that the number of inpatients has remained unchanged, the number of positive COVID-19 (cases) has declined by 15, the number of PDPs has risen by nine, and the number of ODPs has increased by six (compared to the day before)," he continued.



He said the hospital has discharged 320 patients between March 23 and April 16, 2020, of which, 67 have been referred to 13 hospitals, 240 are self-isolating at home, 13 patients have returned home at their own request. Meanwhile, three patients have died of the infection at the hospital during the period.



According to the Task Force for the Acceleration of COVID-19 Handling, Indonesia has recorded a total of 5,136 confirmed coronavirus cases as of Thursday afternoon, with 446 patients recovering from and 469 others dying of the virus.



Jakarta still has the highest number of coronavirus cases out of the 34 provinces in the country,



The Wisma Atlet Emergency Hospital, which was inaugurated on March 23, 2020, is housed in the same building which had accommodated thousands of athletes during the 2018 Asian Games.



The government has converted two towers — number six and seven — at the Wisma Atlet complex into a maintenance area. Another tower is being used to provide accommodation to health workers, volunteers, and nurses, while one tower is serving as the center of the task force's operations. (INE)
