I hope the test kits would help fight the COVID-19 outbreak in Indonesia that enjoys a longstanding friendship with Korea.Jakarta (ANTARA) - South Korean company PT Korea Tomorrow & Global Indonesia (KT&G) donated COVID-19 test kits worth Rp1.2 billion to the Indonesian National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) to help stem the transmission of coronavirus.
The Korean-made diagnostic devices, which have received international certification, can test up to 6,300 people.
"The decision was taken to offer this emergency assistance to Indonesia in overcoming difficulties. I am optimistic that the test kits would help fight the COVID-19 outbreak in Indonesia that has enjoyed a longstanding friendship with Korea," the president director of PT. KT&G Indonesia noted in a written statement released on Wednesday.
The test kits for rapid test and polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) will later be distributed among those on the forefront in the battle against COVID-19 in Indonesia.
The assistance offered by KT&G is part of the company's global social responsibility to address the challenge arising from the common crisis.
Indonesia had earlier also received 300 disinfectant sprayers from South Korea to help stem the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the country.
South Korean Ambassador to Indonesia Kim Chang Beom symbolically handed over the humanitarian aid to Harmensyah, general secretary of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), as coordinator of the COVID-19 Response Task Force in Indonesia, at the BNPB building in Jakarta recently.
