The police fired a warning shot, but it went unheeded. The police later took stern measure by shooting him dead.Kendari, SE Sulawesi (ANTARA) - Police in Indonesia’s Southeast Sulawesi Province shot dead a man suspected of killing an Army second sergeant as he attempted to escape on Tuesday night.
The suspect, identified by his initials as KI, was arrested in Karing-Karing Village, Bungi Sub-district, Baubau City, Chief of the Public Relations Division of the Southeast Sulawesi Provincial Police Adjunct Senior Commissioner Ferry Walintukan noted in a written statement released on Wednesday.
The suspect resisted arrest and attempted to flee when the police were about to collect evidence of his alleged involvement in the murder case around the office of the Kantalai village head.
"The police fired a warning shot, though it went unheeded. “The police later took a stern measure by shooting him to dead," he remarked.
The body of the suspect was later taken to the Palagimata Hospital in Baubau City for postmortem.
The army soldier, identified as Baso Hadang, was found dead at a street leading to a rice plantation in Karing-Karing, Baubau City, on Thursday night (May 14, 2020).
The suspect allegedly killed Baso Hadang, a member of the Indonesian Military's (TNI’s) village supervisory noncommissioned officers (Babinsa) assigned to the Palabusa Village, under the influence of alcohol.
