Our priority is the health and safety of school community (students, teachers and parents)Jakarta (ANTARA) - Schools reopening in green zones, where no COVID-19 case were reported, would be conducted under stringent procedure, Head of the Cooperation and Public Relations of the Education and Culture Ministry Evy Mulyani said.
"Our priority is the health and safety of school community (students, teachers and parents) hence schools in the green zone areas could not be opened instantly. It should be done carefully and follow the health protocol," Mulyani said in her statement here on Sunday.
Schools which are located in yellow and red zones would still use the online learning system for the new academic year 2020/2021.
Mulyani stressed that the start of the academic year should not be seen as face-to-face learning, but remote learning system would still become the main option for most of schools.
According to her, the ministry would discuss the plan to reopen schools in green zones with the Task Force for Acceleration of COVID-19 Handling, while the health protocol for education sector would be discussed with the Health Ministry.
"Schools that are located in green zone could not be reopened automatically, but it should pass stringent procedures," she reiterated.
Schools which could not meet the requirement would have to remain on remote learning, she noted.
The ministry has recommended 23 websites that could be used by students as learning resources. Students could also use the ministry's learning from home program aired on state-owned television station TVRI, radio, self-help learning modul and working sheet, printed material and other learning resources.
"Currently, we are conducting remote learning process that need the Internet access, some are television-based and radio-based learning. This will need a very good collaboration between teachers and parents," she said.
The academic year 2020/2021 will be started on schedule, in the third week of July 2020.
