"We surely will continue (measures) by carrying out isolation well and provide treatments and therapy accordingly, which we can then see that the progress of recovery cases has risen rapidly," Yurianto said in a press conference of the Task Force for the Acceleration of COVID-19 Handling in Jakarta on Sunday.
He then noted that based on the data gathered up until Sunday at 12 pm local time, the number of positive cases increased by 857, making the total confirmed cases at 38,277. The recorded daily case numbers indicated a decrease compared to the day before with 1,014 new confirmed cases.
Furthermore, the death toll from the COVID-19 infections was recorded at 2,134 as a result of new 43 deaths.
In further detail, the highest rise of confirmed cases was located in East Java with a total increase of 196 cases, with 75 patients recovered.
Meanwhile, South Sulawesi recorded 133 new confirmed cases with 26 recoveries, DKI Jakarta recorded 117 new confirmed positive cases with 249 recoveries, Central Java noted 113 new confirmed cases with 20 recoveries, and South Kalimantan recorded 70 new positive cases and 30 recoveries.
Other 22 provinces reported a total of under 10 new cases, whilst another 10 recorded no new cases.
All provinces in Indonesia have recorded positive COVID-19 cases with three cities/districts noting new confirmed cases, making the total of cities/districts that had been impacted by COVID-19 at 430.
Yurianto further said that the number of patients under surveillance is now 13,547, while the total number of people under observation is 41,639.
He also explained that 18,760 specimens had been examined using realtime polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and molecular rapid test.
