Sukabumi (ANTARA) - Indonesian Vice-President Ma'ruf Amin’s visit to the COVID-19 green zone in Sukabumi has lent a moral boost to West Java Province in handling the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The vice president’s visit has lent moral encouragement. If the morale rises, then spirituality rises and so does the immunity," West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil stated while accompanying the vice president to observe preparations for the resumption of face-to-face teaching and learning activities at SMAN 4 Sukabumi, West Java, on Wednesday.

Kamil noted that for the past three months, West Java had handled the COVID-19 pandemic in a proactive, transparent, scientific, and collaborative manner.

Citing epidemiological studies, Kamil remarked that West Java was advised to implement large-scale social restrictions in half of the province.

To this end, the West Java provincial government had closed at least 27 districts and cities, so as to curb the infection rate, from scale 4 to under one.

"This is under control to this day," Kamil stated.

In the meantime, Vice President Amin lauded the West Java governor for bringing the pandemic under control in the province. Amin also praised the mayor of Sukabumi for making the city a green zone.

The vice president visited Sukabumi to inspect the level of preparedness of several educational sites in the COVID-19 green zone area to conduct face-to-face teaching and learning activities from July 13.

On the occasion, Amin visited SMAN 4 Sukabumi and Pondok Pesantren Assobariyyah.
