We (are trying to) ensure that no new COVID-19 cases are found in Cianjur when face-to-face learning is resumed.
Cianjur, W Java (ANTARA) - The COVID-19 task force of Cianjur District, West Java, will conduct rapid tests and swab tests on 4,500 senior high school and vocational school teachers as a prerequisite for resuming face-to-face learning.

Cianjur district head Herman Suherman said here on Wednesday that he will expedite the COVID-19 testing of teachers.

The task force, along with health officers, will visit each senior high school and vocational school to check the health of teachers, he informed.

"We have ordered the task force and the health office to conduct rapid tests and swab tests on all teachers who will teach as usual to ensure that they are in good health and free from COVID-19," he said.

The tests have been made mandatory for all teachers in Cianjur District. In the first stage, testing will be compulsory for senior high school and vocational school teachers, and later for junior high school and elementary school teachers.

"We (are trying to) ensure that no new COVID-19 cases are found in Cianjur when face-to-face learning is resumed," Suherman said.

Spokesperson for the Information and Coordination Center of the Cianjur District COVID-19 task force, Dr. Yusman Faisal, said the agency is targeting to get all teachers tested in two weeks' time.

He said more than a thousand teachers had taken rapid and swab tests sometime ago.

So far, active cases have accounted for 23.7 percent of the total confirmed COVID-19 infections, according to Dr. Dewi Nur Aisyah, a member of the COVID-19 task force's expert team.

"Active cases are the number of people that are currently ill. They can be treated at a hospital or in independent isolation at home," she stated during a press conference at Graha BNPB here on Wednesday.

Currently, the number of active cases has reached 42,009, or about 23.7 percent of the total case count. Meanwhile, 72.1 percent, or 128,057 people have so far recovered from the infection.

The number of fatalities has reached 7,505, accounting for about 4.2 percent of the total cases.
