Depok, West Java (ANTARA) - Sri Vira Chandra, Adara Relief International chairperson, highlighted the need for Indonesians to vociferously reject Israeli occupation of the Palestinian land since it could help determine the future of Palestine.

The role of the media was crucial in disseminating information on the situation in Palestine and Indonesia's concern over the fate of Palestinians, Chandra noted in a statement here on Saturday.

"Israeli crimes in Palestine were committed indiscriminately. Women, children, paramedics, and media crews, who should have received protection, have, on the contrary, become victims," Chandra pointed out.

Such crimes against humanity have continued unabated for over 72 years and passed the International Court of Justice. The blockade of Gaza continues until this day along with the arrests and murders of children and women and the destruction of Palestinian homes in the Al Quds area of the West Bank and also in the 48 Territory.

To support the Palestinian fight for independence, Adara has set up 22 Palestinian care communities and became the founder of a network of community organizations that are currently members of the Indonesian Women's Coalition for Al Quds and Palestine (KPIQP).

"Various educational and public campaign activities have been conducted to continually improve public awareness and enthusiasm for sharing," she stated.

Of the 11 Palestine Assistance Programs presented by Chandra, donations of nine Help Palestine programs were distributed, in collaboration with several partner NGOs. The assistance was provided to beneficiaries in the five regions of Al Quds, West Bank, Territory 48, Gaza, and refugee camps in Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, and Jordan.

Until next December, Adara will implement six Palestinian Assistance Programs: Help Palestinian Orphans, Help Me Go To School, Help Halaqoh Al-Quran, Help Injured Victims, Winter Assistance, and the Special Endowment Program to Build Wells.

"Adara remains optimistic about the good potential and concern of the Indonesian people, who continue to donate to Palestine despite the COVID-19 pandemic," she affirmed.
