“After years of being a means of mass transportation that carries large numbers of passengers, during this pandemic we have (had) to take a break, reduce passengers, but (we) still have to continue to improve,” Erick Thohir said during the virtual commemoration of KAI's 75th anniversary here on Monday.
PT KAI has been for 75 years connecting the Indonesian people to their hopes and dreams, narrowing the distances for all levels of society, reconnecting friendships, facilitating activities, and uniting relatives, he remarked.
"The President has advised us that we must hijack the momentum of the crisis in order to make big leaps," he said.
The minister asked KAI to continue to strengthen the culture of mutual cooperation so that it is in a better position to face the changing times.
“I believe the success of an organization is not born from the greatness of each individual person, but is born from the mutual cooperation of all parties in it,” he stated.
Meanwhile, KAI president director Didiek Hartantyo said the rail operator would collaborate with other transportation providers to create a good transportation ecosystem and provide comfortable services to passengers.
"So, indeed we have a vision to make railroads into the best transportation ecosystem solution. The strategy is that we will collaborate with (providers of) other modes of transportation," he added.
To make this happen, he said, KAI is building a digital-based system called KAI Access. The application will later be connected with other modes of transportation.
"Later, customers will not only enjoy train services, but can enjoy end-to-end travel," he informed.
In addition, the KAI application will also be connected to existing payment applications.
"We will use the system so that the application can connect both with other means of transportation and with the payment platform," he said. (INE)
