“All TransJakarta services have been stopped for today from 10.30 a.m. This measure has been taken as an anticipation to protect public facilities from becoming targets of irresponsible individuals in the rallies,” said operational director of TransJakarta, Prasetia Budi, in a statement issued on Tuesday.
The measure has been taken to ensure the safety of TransJakarta commuters and staff as they would otherwise have to pass through the area where the demonstrations against the new law are being held, he explained.
TransJakarta has appealed to all customers who are still carrying out activities outdoors to be alert and take care on the road and to prioritize their own and their family’s safety. The services will resume normally once the situation is more conducive for the fleet to operate, it said.
Budi also urged the people to remain aware and take care while venturing outdoors, and observe health protocols, including washing hands, wearing masks, and keeping a distance.
Traffic is being redirected on a number of roads around the Merdeka Palace on account of the rally against the job creation law.
