"This is very important. The public communication strategy should be well-prepared,” said President Widodo during a closed meeting on the Procurement and Implementation Plan for Vaccinations at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday.
The Head of State had earlier warned that an ineffective public communication strategy would have unfavorable consequences as evidenced by the public response to the Job Creation Law.
Therefore, the President said, he had asked the Communication and Informatics Minister to support the State-Owned Enterprises Minister in preparing the strategy.
“The benefits of vaccines and the road map for vaccination implementation should be explained comprehensively to the public,” the President advised.
That way, hopefully, there will be no disinformation or hoaxes emerging from various existing platforms and media, the President added.
“We (have) also involved religious assemblies and organizations, MUI, NU, Muhammadiyah, other mass organizations to convince people about the halal status of vaccines,” he said.
President Jokowi reiterated that the COVID-19 vaccination is not only crucial for public safety and health, but also the economy. (INE)
