The seminar on ‘Jammu & Kashmir Dispute - Past, Present and Future’ took place at the Chancery with the observance of SOPs outlined by the Indonesian government.
During the seminar, Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy, Jamal Nasir, made a detailed presentation on Pakistan’s history, geography, strategic location, and regional dynamics, according to a statement released here on Monday.
He also discussed various global issues, including the “rising wave of Islamophobia”, the US-China trade war, the COVID-19 crisis, the tussle between the great powers in the Indo-Pacific region, the unrest in the Middle East, the Afghan peace deal, and India’s “hegemonic posture” in the South Asian region, with special reference to the “recent problems created by India” with its neighbors, including Pakistan, China, Bangladesh, and Nepal.
He then dwelled on the importance and history of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute and the significance of ‘Kashmir Black Day’.
He described, in detail, the ongoing wave of “intolerance" and “state-sponsored repression” of minorities (especially Muslims) in India, with special reference to the plight of Muslims in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK).
Citing recent “illegal attempts aimed towards changing the demography of IIOJK” by the Indian government, Mr. Nasir said Pakistan strongly rejected such “illegal acts”. He said the Pakistan government is resolved to fight the case of Jammu and Kashmir at all forums.
Nasir also covered various other aspects of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, including gross human rights violations, sexual abuse and violence against women and children, the Hindutva ideology of the RSS-inspired Modi government, the non-implementation of the UNSC resolutions by India, and Pakistan’s desire to resolve all issues with India, including the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, through dialogue, in accordance with the UNSC resolutions.
Dr. Nur Munir, head of the Islamic and Middle Eastern Research Centre Jakarta, Abu Aly, head of Inter-Agencies Relation, UIN, Dr. Zahir Khan, former Indonesian Ambassador and the current head of the Kashmir Solidarity Forum also spoke at the event.
The seminar was attended by academics, scholars, intellectuals, researchers, members of political and religious organizations, and students. (INE)
