Jakarta (ANTARA) - President conferred the Mahaputra Adipradana Stars, highest civil service awards, and Bintang Jasa medals to state officials and the 2014-2019 Working Cabinet’s state officials and heirs of medical and health workers dying while handling COVID-19.

Awarding the medals of merit and honor that took place at the State Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday, was stipulated in Presidential Decree No. 118 and 119 / TK / TH 2020, November 6, 2020.

The event began with the singing of the Indonesia Raya national anthem, observing a moment of silence, reading of the Presidential Decree, reciting prayers, re-singing the national anthem of Indonesia Raya, and ending with a note of congratulations.

Attendees at the ceremony to award the medal of merit and honor comprised representatives of the recipients of honor from state officials and former state officials as well as the heirs of medical and health workers, who died while fulfilling their duties in handling COVID-19:

1. The Mahaputra Adipradana Stars were handed to 14 officials representing 18 others: a. Dr. (H.C.) Puan Maharani Nakshatra Kusyala, S.I.Kom., Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture of Indonesia for 2014-2019 period;

b. Dr. H. Anwar Usman, S.H., M.H. Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia for 2018-2021;

c. Prof. Dr. Arief Hidayat, S.H., M.S. Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia for 2015-2018 and Constitutional Justice of the Republic of Indonesia for 2018-2023;

d. Prof. Dr. Aswanto, S.H., M.Si., DFM., Deputy Chief of the Constitutional Court 2018-2021;

e. Ir. Airlangga Hartarto, M.B.A., M.M.T., IPU, Minister of Industry, 2016-2019;

f. General TNI (HOR) (Purn) Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia 2016-2019;

g. Prof. Dr. Pratikno, M.Soc. Sc. Minister of State Secretary of the Republic of Indonesia 2014-2019;

h. Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi, S.I.P., LL.M., Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia 2014-2019;

i. Prof. Dr. Muhadjir Effendy, M.A.P., Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia 2016-2019;

j. Dr. Darmin Nasution, S.E., Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia 2015-2019;

k. Ir. Mochamad Basoeki Hadimoeljono, M.Sc., Ph.D., Minister of Public Works and Public Housing of the Republic of Indonesia 2014-2019;

l. General Pol (Ret.) Prof. Drs. H. Muhammad Tito Karnavian, M.A., Ph.D., Chief of the Indonesian National Police 2016-2019;

m. Tjahjo Kumolo, S.H. Minister of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia 2014-2019; and

n. General Pol (Ret.) Drs. H. Sutarman, S.I.K., Chief of the National Police of the Republic of Indonesia 2013-2015.

2. Bintang Mahaputra Utama medals were given to four officials representing 10 other people:

a. Dra. Hj. Khofifah Indar Parawansa, M.Sc., Minister of Social Affairs 2014-2018;

b. General TNI (Purn) Mulyono, Army Chief of Staff 2015-2018;

c. Admiral TNI (Ret.) Dr. Ade Supandi, S.E., M.A.P., Chief of the Naval Staff for 2014-2018; and

d. Marshal TNI (Purn) Agus Supriatna, Chief of Staff of the Air Force for 2015-2017.

3. Bintang Jasa Utama medals were given to two recipients:

a. Dr. Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, M.Sc., Minister of Social Affairs for 2018-2019; and

b. Comm. Gen. Pol (Ret.) Dr. (H.C.) Drs. H. Syafruddin, M.Sc., Minister for Empowerment of the State Apparatus and Bureaucracy Reform of the Republic of Indonesia for 2018-2019.

4. The Bintang Jasa Pratama medal was given to the heir of late Dr. Ketty Herawati Sultana, a doctor at the Medistra Hospital Jakarta, representing 13 other people.

5. The Bintang Jasa Nararya medal was handed to the heir of late Nani Suhartini, A.Md.Kep., a nurse at the Sukmul Sisma Medika Hospital Jakarta, representing eight other people.

Head of the Bureau of Titles, Merits and Signs of Honor, Admiral TNI Imam Suprayitno, S.E., M.Tr. (Han) stated that the Council of Titles, Merits and Signs of Honor had given consideration to the proposal for the awarding of the honorary mark.

The Council of Titles, Merits and Honors is guided by Article 28 of Law Number 20 of 2009 on Titles, Merits and Honors:


a. Paragraph (2) letter a concerns the special requirements for obtaining the Mahaputra Adipradana Star, specifically having offered extraordinary services in various fields that are beneficial to the progress, welfare, and prosperity of the nation and state, and

b. Paragraph (3) letter a regarding the special requirements for obtaining Bintang Jasa, comprise having made great contributions in a certain field or event that are beneficial to the safety, welfare, and greatness of the nation and state.
