"This technology is hoped to become a solution for Indonesia, considering the country is one of the 10 big South East Asian countries with the highest number of coronavirus infections," founder and CEO of ELECLEAN, Dr. Chieng Hung Chen, said in a statement received here on Monday.
Chen stated that his company has successfully developed the first and only series of water-based portable sterilizing gadgets, which have been recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO).
The technology, he continued, turns water into a pure disinfectant, without the addition of any alcohol.
The alcohol-free and chemical-free disinfectant solution can be produced in 15 minutes using nano catalysis electro-chemical technology that can turn water into Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) to eliminate viruses and bacteria through oxidation, he explained.
"All that are needed are water, electricity, and our gadget, to produce a safe disinfectant," he added.
Chen said he believed that the alcohol-free product would be suitable for Indonesia, as the country has a majority Muslim population.
The company is currently tying up with local partners to penetrate the Indonesian market, Chen informed adding, it is expecting sales of US$350 thousand in Indonesia in the first year.
Taiwan has been considered successful in handling the COVID-19 pandemic, which began spreading across the globe early this year. Taiwan's current COVID-19 mortality rate is under 10. At the end of October, the country’s local Disease Control Center said it recorded zero COVID-19 cases in the preceding 200 days. (INE)
