"The two wanted fugitives, identified by their initials as W alias A alias B alias and AA alias A, resisted arrest, so (the security personnel) took firm and measurable action that led to the deaths of two MIT members," Chief of the Central Sulawesi Provincial Police Inspector General Abdul Rakhman Baso revealed here on Tuesday.
The security personnel attempted to apprehend the two suspects in Parigi Moutong District, Central Sulawesi Province, on Tuesday morning.
"Several pieces of evidence, including a revolver, pipe bomb, rounds of ammunition, GPS, compass, and flashlight, were seized (from them)," he noted.
The bodies of the two suspected MIT members were in the process of being evacuated from the scene and would thereafter be taken to the Bhayangkara Police Hospital in Palu for autopsy, he remarked.
The joint police and military task force had conducted a manhunt for two suspected MIT members in the fishery complex area in Mamboro, Palu City, Central Sulawesi, since Saturday Nov 7, 2020.
The place is believed to be the hideouts of MIT members on the task force's most wanted fugitive list.
