Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Task Force for COVID-19 Response here on Monday confirmed that Indonesia had recorded 4,198 new recoveries and 4,442 fresh confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.

As of Nov 23, a total of 422,386 COVID-19 patients had recovered out of the 502,110 people that contracted COVID-19 ever since the country announced its first confirmed cases on March 2 this year.

The country also reported 118 COVID-19 patients succumbing to the disease in the last 24 hours, thereby bringing the death toll to 16,002 people.

Jakarta registered the highest number of recoveries at 1,064; fresh confirmed cases at 1,009; and deaths reaching 17.

This was followed by West Java Province coming second, with 1,013 new recoveries, 602 fresh cases, and two deaths; East Java, with 392 recoveries, 365 fresh cases, and 35 deaths; Central Java, with 310 recoveries, 1,005 fresh cases, and 10 deaths; Riau Islands, with 242 new recoveries, 273 fresh cases, and two deaths; East Kalimantan, with 194 recoveries, 132 fresh cases, and nine deaths; and Riau, with 134 recoveries, 113 fresh cases, and two deaths.

Five provinces reported new cases below 10, while the two provinces of Jambi and Papua had no new cases.

The COVID-19 Task Force also reported 66,279 COVID-19 suspects in 505 districts and cities across 34 Indonesian provinces.

Meanwhile, 40,083 specimens were examined on Monday by using both the real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method and rapid molecular diagnostic test (TCM), bringing the cumulative count of total specimens to 5,380,620.
