All regional administrations must offer assurance to visitors that the destination area is safe by implementing stringent health protocols.Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) underscored the importance of adopting a disciplined approach in implementing COVID-19 health protocols to help local authorities to recover the tourism industry.
"All regional administrations must offer assurance to visitors that the destination area is safe by implementing stringent health protocols," Deputy Head of Central Java's PHRI Benk Mintosih noted in a statement here on Tuesday.
Mintosih shared optimism that the effort would facilitate revival of the tourism industry in regions as public confidence in health safety in the destination area had become the main factor in the sector.
Public confidence could be built through promotion conducted by the local administration, Mintosih remarked.
Tourism has become one sector to have borne the maximum brunt of the COVID-19 pandemic. Hence, special handling by the regional administration to revive the industry is deemed necessary.
All regional administrations must apply health protocols in the tourist destination area and promote the area’s safety to visitors.
The association has also appealed to the government to offer stimulus in electricity and tax subsidy for tourism operators.
"In the tourism industry, the largest cost is for electricity and tax," he pointed out.
