"This afternoon, a joint large-scale patrol from the Jayakarta Military Command, Jakarta Police, Jakarta Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) and Jakarta Transportation Agency carried out a security patrol for the celebration of the Christmas Mass," Jakarta Police chief, Inspector General Pol Fadil Imran, said in Jakarta on Thursday.
Apart from patrolling, officers will also jointly conduct humanitarian operations such as spraying disinfectants at several churches.
This afternoon we will carry out another humanitarian operation in the form of spraying disinfectants throughout the church which will be used for mass or Christmas services," Fadil informed.
Kodam Jaya commander Maj. Gen. Dudung Abdurachman said he hoped that Christmas celebrations in the capital would go off safely with the deployment of the joint patrol.
"Joint patrols (are meant) to maintain security and safety in the context of Christmas and New Year to provide comfort for our brothers. I hope that what we will do together will be blessed by God," Dudung said.
A total of 8,179 joint personnel from the military, police and Jakarta provincial government have been prepared for Operation of Lilin Jaya 2020, which will take place from December 21, 2020 to January 4, 2021.
For ensuring national security during Christmas 2020 and New Year 2021, the Indonesian National Police has prepared 83,917 personnel, who will be supported in the task by 15,842 military personnel and 55,086 personnel from other related institutions. (INE)
