"Komnas HAM conveyed the report on the deaths of six people guarding Muhammad Rizieq Shihab to the president on December 7, 2020," Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud MD stated during a press conference at his office.
Since the onset, the government did not set up a joint fact-finding team (TGPF) on its own but instead submitted it to Komnas HAM to investigate the case in accordance with the existing law.
"Since the start, we said, we left it to Komnas HAM to investigate, and we will not interfere. Komnas HAM has been working thoroughly, and the results have been announced on Friday (Jan 8) to the public," Mahfud stated in the company of Komnas HAM commissioners at the press conference.

The minister noted that President Jokowi had directly accepted the report on the investigation results in addition to the recommendations.
Mahfud highlighted President Jokowi’s request to guard and follow up on all recommendations from Komnas HAM while stressing on complete transparency.
In connection with the indication of "unlawful killing" in the car, the minister asserted that comprehensive details of the incident would be revealed at court.
Meanwhile, Komnas HAM Head Ahmad Taufan Damanik affirmed that his party had submitted the investigation report this morning at 10 a.m. WIB.
"Alhamdulillah, at 10 a.m. local time, the seven of us, all commissioners, were welcomed by the president to submit a complete report of more than 106 pages along with additional documents, including evidence, which complement our report," Damanik remarked.
Komnas HAM had earlier stated that human rights violations were committed by police officers in the killing of four out of the six FPI members, who were shot dead.
The Human Rights Body found the deaths of two other FPI members to not be a violation of human rights.
The six FPI members, aged between 20 and 33 years, were shot dead by Jakarta police officers conducting surveillance of FPI Chief Rizieq Shihab, on Km 50 of the Cikampek Toll Road in December 2020. Related news: Komnas HAM recommends transparent trial for FPI members' shooting case
