"On behalf of the government, we approve the results agreed upon during the Work Committee (Panja) that was surely the best out of the different views expressed during the discussion process and based on critical thinking in the best interests of the country and nation," Minister Laoly noted in a statement received here, Friday.
"We are optimistic that the cooperation between the Legislative Body of the House of Representatives, Regional House of Representatives’ (DPD's) Bill Committee, and the government in formulating the Prolegnas would continue to be strengthened, with the aim of materializing quality laws," the minister emphasized.
Laoly made the statement at the work meeting between the government and House of Representatives' Legislative Body and the DPD's Bill Committee in Jakarta on Thursday (Jan 14).
At the meeting, chaired by Chairman of the legislative unit, Supratman Andi Attas, an agreement was reached on three amendments to the bill in the 2020-2024 mid-term Prolegnas. The three changes are the Bill on Management of State Assets that is an amalgamation of the Bill on Appraisers, Bill on Tenders, and Bill on Management of State Receivables and Regional Receivables; change in the title of the Bill on Amendments to Law Number 42 of 1999 on Fiduciary Guarantee to Movable Objects Guarantee; as well as the addition of the Bill on Clemency, Amnesty, Abolition and Rehabilitation.
Moreover, 33 bills were agreed upon to be included in the Prolegnas in 2021. Of the 33 bills, 20 were proposed by the House, nine bills by the government, two bills by the government along with the House, and two bills by the DPD.
The work meeting for preparation of the Prolegnas was earlier held on November 24, 2020, and was followed by a work meeting and lobby forum later during the week.
However, no agreement was reached at the work meeting, as three of the 36 proposed bills in the 2021 Priority Prolegnas sparked a debate and were rejected by most DPR factions.
The three bills were the Bill on Family Resilience, Bill on the Ideology and Development of Pancasila, and Bill on Bank Indonesia. It was finally decided to postpone the meeting after the lobby forum yielded no results.
Laoly also lauded the Legislative Body of the House and the Drafting Committee of the regional house for reaching an agreement on the changes to the 2020-2024 mid-term Prolegnas and the 2021 priority bills today.
