Sumenep, E Java (ANTARA) - A joint search and rescue team on Tuesday continued efforts to locate three crew members of MV Berhasil II, which sank in the waters off Gili Genting Island, East Java province, on Sunday.

The joint team comprising personnel from the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), water police, police, and military deployed SAR ship Antasena and three fishermen's boats on the second day of the search operation on Tuesday, chief of the Sumenep District Natural Disaster Mitigation Board (BPBD), Abd Rahman Riadi, said.

"The area of search operation today was wider than yesterday as we received a ship KN SAR Antasena from Basarnas which can operate now," he informed.

The three missing crew members have been identified as Endin, Harun, and Juma’ awam.

MV Berhasil II sank in the waters off Gili Genting waters in East Java around 9 p.m. local time on Sunday. The vessel was headed to the waters northeast or southeast of the island for fishing, Riadi said.

Fourteen people survived the accident.
