Alhamdulillah, we are again entering the holy month of Ramadhan amid a pandemic situation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - House Speaker Puan Maharani has encouraged people to make the holy month of Ramadhan a momentum to increase piety, practice patience, and increase concern for others.

"Alhamdulillah, we are again entering the holy month of Ramadhan amid a pandemic situation," Maharani noted in her statement here on Tuesday.

The chairperson of the House of Representatives (DPR) said the COVID-19 pandemic that has battered Indonesia for over a year has taught people to be more patient and tawakal (submission to Allah), as well as to exercise greater discipline in implementing health protocols.

In addition, the pandemic has taught the people about the importance of caring for others in trouble due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Care for others and work together to help our brothers and sisters affected by the pandemic," she remarked.

The politician expected that devotion and concern for others would be further increase during the month of Ramadan.

Maharani urged the community to help all victims and families affected by natural disasters, so that they can quickly recover from injuries and other hardships.

"This includes earthquake victims in the southern coastal region of East Java. The victims and their families would hopefully be given the strength to recover quickly from injuries and grief due to the disaster," she pointed out.

In addition, Maharani appealed to the public to remain disciplined in adhering to health protocols to prevent the transmission of COVID-19. She considers that being disciplined and patient, practicing tawakal, and caring for others are the values of fasting during the month of Ramadhan.

"Let us increase the values of worship in this Holy Month. Make this fasting month a means for self-introspection and pray that the pandemic can be quickly resolved," she affirmed.
